An Endless Maze
April, 2017 sees the release of ‘An Endless Maze’, the follow up EP to the 2015 debut ‘A New Place’.
Recorded in his Western Sydney home studio, the direct and honest sound delivered on the Barriers’ frontman’s sophomore solo release picks up where his debut left off. The four tracks on this EP convey an effortless cohesiveness as they lead into each other with subtlety, suggesting the former hardcore guitarist is truly comfortable with his own style and sound.
Lyrically, the general theme across is that of restlessness and frustration, yet the listener is repeatedly picked up musically as the major climax leaves an overwhelming feeling of hope.
As was the case on his debut, which included the transformation of doom-hardcore to acoustic-folk with his rendition of Carpathian’s ‘Insomnia’, Lowe has provided another acoustic cover in ‘Recover’, originally by Glasgow outfit CHVRCHES. This time though, he has opted for the reverse treatment by turning the danceable electro-pop hit into a heartbreaking and somewhat dark ballad.
‘An Endless Maze’ will be released digitally on Monday, April 17th.
Looking forward to it! Any plans for some physical copies like you did with ‘A New Place’?
Not as yet mate, at this point it will be a digital-only release. Cheers!
